Registration Underway for 2017 Erie Canal Half: A Boilermaker Event

The Boilermaker Road Race is proud to announce open registration for the Erie Canal Half, beginning on Monday, January 30th. The race will take place on the morning of Sunday, May 21st and include various events including a half marathon, two-person relay, and a 5k run. All events will start and finish in Utica's vibrant Bagg's Square neighborhood. Post-race activities will take place on the property of Commercial Traveler's Mutual Insurance Company, the race's presenting sponsor.
The weekend's festivities will kick-off on Saturday, May 20th with an expo at the Boilermaker offices at 805 Court Street as well as a kid's run taking place near the property of A&P Master Images on Water Street. 2017 serves as an important anniversary year for both the Erie Canal and the Boilermaker Road Race, marking 40 years of "Utica's world famous race" and 200 years since the start of construction on the Erie Canal. Similar to its flagship race, the Boilermaker is billing the Erie Canal Race as a celebration of Utica pride and heritage centered around Bagg's Square, one of the city's most vibrant neighborhoods a promising area of redevelopment in recent years.
